And here we go again!
It has been some time since we have been consistently publishing on our site. Mostly this is because we have been quite busy. We’ve been writing for our clients and have had very little time for ourselves. Although, it must be said that one of the things we do not do at HFS is spam LinkedIn and Facebook every time we are low on work. Instead, we focus on talking about things that interest us when there is something important to say. Consequently, we have not spent much time writing about our opinions regarding some of the smaller topics of the day. Until now….
The past few months have been striking for their near, but not quite, similarity to “the time before” and how totally different everything is these days. People have been travelling more, working more, and spending time out in the world almost as if it is 2019. But to say things are the way they were is to miss the truth of change and evolution. It is difficult to miss that the world is on fire and we have not been in peril to this extent for some time. People are starting to realize that the past few decades have been a relatively rare period of stability. We are now being reminded that nothing stays the same, and nothing really ever returns as it was before. The rule of the universe is entropy, not stability. There is a lot more up in the air right now than most of us are used to, and people, companies, and governments are struggling with the impact of change.
This means there is a lot to discuss. We are going to start publishing more, because we think it is important. We see too much of the usual stuff being discussed. So, over the next few weeks, we will be discussing some the new essential topics we believe are important for innovation, strategy, and understanding the world around us all. This does not mean you can expect some silly article about the future of work in “the new normal” from us. Quite the opposite, in a few weeks you will have an article pointing out why “the new normal” was a canard and only served to reveal a serious flaw in how businesses, and many consultants, conceptualize the world.
We will also be considering the hidden failures and dangers in the anti-theory position many people take in the working world. We will discuss the ins-and-outs of storytelling, not as a buzzword, but as a key organizer of information. We will explore the real story behind trends and the weakness of generational perspectives in market research. We will dig into the search for the perfect respondent and the problems that brings. We will show you how it is possible to experience the future now, simply by pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, and we will demonstrate why purpose should be more than just a “fuzzy feels” process and more of a deliberate strategic and organizational focus.. And there will be more after that.
Stay tuned. We are excited to be back. We hope you are too.
